Brett Favre Facing Sexual Harrassment Lawsuit From Christina Scavo and Shannon O'Toole

And here we all were thinking Favre got off easy for the Jenn Sterger fiasco. According to this ABC News report, two female former NY Jets massage therapists (Christina Scavo and Shannon O'Toole) have filed suit against the retiring iconic quarterback. Here are some snippets from the report:

In the suit, Scavo alleges that Favre sent text messages to another unidentified massage therapist, asking Scavo and the unidentified woman to "get together" with Favre.

Scavo said that in 2008 while Favre was with the New York Jets, he treated her like a "hanging slab of meat." In the suit she claims he wanted a three-way with her and another therapist.

Favre allegedly texted the unidentified therapist, writing, "Brett here, you and Crissy want to get together, I'm all alone," according to the lawsuit.

Favre allegedly sent another text message reading, "Kinda lonely tonight, I guess I have bad intentions."

Looks like Favre may be just another dirty old man with weak game. Texting sexual advances to female Jets while your a member of the team wasn't the smartest idea. Especially when you're married and your last name is Favre. This just leads me to wonder how many other chicks Favre was hitting on and may come out of the wood works for their 15 minutes of fame (ala Tiger Woods).

Even more interesting that the Jets employ many young women as massage therapists. Probably because football players with enhanced testosterone levels wouldn't be too fond of getting rub on by a man (hell, neither would I).

There's a lot more in the report so click the link and check it out. You can also watch the report on tomorrow morning's edition of Good Morning America (7am E.T.)

Talk about kicking a man while he's down...

Favre To Only Be Fined For Texts To Sterger

Looks like Brett Favre dodges the bullet again. Accoriding to this NY Post report, the NFL will fine Favre for the package pics that he was sending then NY Jets "Gameday Host" Jenn Sterger (pictured above).

Why Sterger didn't report this back when it happened is anyone's guess. Maybe she liked the attention. Who knows. But what we DO know is that Favre won. Sorry Ms. Sterger. Sh*t happens when you mess with the Favre.

Just another story to add to the legend that is Brett Favre, who has apporached Chuck Norris levels in my book.

NFL Week 15 One-and-a-Half Liners

A look back at NFL Week 15.

San Diego Chargers 34, San Francisco 49ers 7

Vincent Jackson's 3 touchdowns proves general manager A.J. Smith was right not to meet his contract demands. (As he explains to a wig-wearing LaDanian Tomlinson, "Pimpin' been pimpin' since been pimpin'...")

Cincinnati Bengals 19, Cleveland Browns 17

The Bengals snap their 10-game losing streak, while the Browns snap Terrell Owens meniscus. (Might need to cop some Knee Grows...)

Dallas Cowboys 33, Washington Redskins 30

Rex Grossman threw 4 TDs, but in the end was no match for Jon Kitna and the Cowboys offense. (Donovan McNabb just threw up, again...)

Tennessee Titans 31, Houston Texans 17

In the second of the two matchups this season, the Titans jumped on the Texans early with 21 first quarter points. (Kind of how Andre Johnson jumped on Courtland Finnegan early in the first matchup...)

Indianapolis Colts 34, Jacksonville Jaguars 24

The Colts, in true big-brother fashion, let the Jags get their division title hopes up just long enough before snatching it away yet again. (Maybe the Jags can put the Colts on the next season of "Bully Beatdown"...)

Kansas City Chiefs 27, St. Louis Rams 13

The Chiefs may win the AFC West by being the best team in the NFC West (4-0 against the 49ers, Rams, Seahawks and Cardinals this season). (Boise State laughs uncontrollably at the Chiefs non-conference schedule...)

Buffalo Bills 17, Miami Dolphins 14

The Dolphins fall to 7-7, but are 1-6 at home. (If something like this happened to Sun Life Stadium, the Dolphins might be leading the AFC East...)

Detroit Lions 23, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 20 (OT)

The Lions win a road game for the first time in three years. (Geno Auriemma is disappointed that you care more about the Lions losing than his women winning over the same time period, you miserable bastards...)

Philadelphia Eagles 38, New York Giants 31

DeSean Jackson returned a muffed punt 65 yards for a touchdown on the game's final play to cap a 28 point fourth quarter comeback by the Eagles. (You wanna know how Jackson got his pet cheetah? His Benjamin pile? Because he's faaaaaaa-aaast...)

Carolina Panthers 19, Arizona Cardinals 12

Nobody cares. (Nobody cares...)

Baltimore Ravens 30, New Orleans Saints 24

Even after watching the game, it remains unknown if these teams are both Super Bowl contenders, or first round flame outs. (Also, fantasy football owners of Ray Rice thank him for having his first great game of the season, ten weeks too late to validate taking him number one overall...)

Atlanta Falcons 34, Seattle Seahawks 18

The Falcons continue to lure people into believing that they are the best team in the NFC. (Pete Carroll continues to be a completely mediocre head coach on the professional level, even though it's legal to pay players...)

Oakland Raiders 39, Denver Broncos 23

Tim Tebow allegedly made his first start at quarterback, yet carried the ball 8 times for 78 yards and a TD. (Meanwhile, God smiled on the Raiders, who are at .500 in December for the first time since 2002, when this massacre happened...)

New York Jets 22, Pittsburgh Steelers 17

The Jets beat the Steelers in Pittsburgh for the first time in franchise history, and score an offensive TD for the first time in three games. (The Steelers secure a playoff spot in the loss, and the media ignores Mike Tomlin allowing Big Ben to throw 44 times in the snow, when Rashard Mendenhall became the first player to run for 100 yards against the Jets on only 17 carries...)

New England Patriots 31, Green Bay Packers 27

Matt Flynn filled in admirably for Aaron Rodgers (251 yards passing, 3 TDs), but was no match for Tom Brady's hair or clock management capability. (Somewhere in Louisiana, Les Miles is smiling...)

Chicago Bears 40, Minnesota Vikings 14

As Brett Favre picked himself up off the turf after being planted by Bears DE Corey Wootton, it reminded me of the end of "Fallen", when the demon Azazel leaves Denzel's dead body, floats around, and finally reveals itself having possessed a cat that was nearby, saying "Oh, you forgot something, didn't you. I said I was going to tell you about the time I almost died..." (Jay Cutler sings, "Time is on my side...")

End Of An Era: Brett Favre To Miss First Game in Over 18 Years

As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. Per this tweet from the Minnesota Vikings, an injury to his throwing shoulder will keep Brett Favre from starting or playing in tonight's game against the NY Giants, marking the first game Favre will not be under center after 297 straight starts. That is equivalent to 18 1/12 full NFL seasons.

Here is a picture of the official inactive list:

This season has been a tough one for the 41-yr-old Favre, who has had to endure struggles on the field as well as scandal off of it (namely the nude pics that were allegedly sent to a Jets employee the lone season Favre was there).

Nonetheless, Favre has been one of the greatest quaterbacks in NFL history and holds many career records. I chose the picture of Favre in a Green Bay jersey as his years with the Packers represent the best years of his well decorated career. Favre is the only player in NFL history to win the MVP award 3 consecutive years and holds records for most touchdown passes, passing yards, and completions, as well as most career interceptions.

Favre may be put on injury reserve soon which will most definitely end his career. If so the NFL will be saying farewell to a true warrior on the football field and on of the greatest to ever do it.

Chilly in Minnesota

In more Minnesota Vikings headline news, it has been reported that at least 6 players on the team wants Brad Childress fired. One player says, "We know that Childress does not have our back, so why should we have his?" Another player says, "As much as I hate Childress, I will keep playing." We all know Brett Farve's take on the subject of Brad...

Honestly, maybe it is time for the former slightly above average Offensive Coordinator to get the boot. It seems he doesn't have the respect of the players and there is a coach in waiting in Leslie Frazier who does have the players on his side. If this is that one last hurrah for Brett Farve, might as well get the most out of him and everyone around him. Super Bowl or Bust right???

What Would Jimmy Do?

Jimmy Johnson has very few regrets from his NFL coaching career. One thing he says he would have done differently: sitting Dan Marino.

On Fox NFL Sunday, Johnson explained that toward the end of Marino's career with the Miami Dolphins, the Hall of Fame quarterback was injured, struggling, and in Johnson's eyes more of a detriment to the team than an asset. Johnson says he toyed with the idea of benching Marino in 1999, but ultimately decided against it, citing Marino's status, even though he felt the backup (Damon Huard) gave the team a better chance to win..

He used this analogy to explain why he feels Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress should bench his future Hall of Fame quarterback, Brett Favre.

In six games this season, Favre is 2-4, has thrown 10 interceptions to only seven touchdowns, and has a QB rating of 68.6. Adding injury to insult, he has two broken bones in his left foot, and possibly a broken marriage after a "sexting" scandal involving former NY Jets employee Jenn Sterger. He's 41 years old, immobile, and being paid $20 million this season.

The Vikings have no leverage to bench the ailing Favre, after bending over backwards this summer to woo him into returning. Favre currently has his consecutive games started streak that sits at an NFL record of 291games. Speculation is that Favre wants to get that up to 300.

After the Vikings most recent loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football, Childress attempted throwing Favre under the bus. In the press conference, he had this to say about a Favre interception that led to points for the Packers:

“Yeah, the (interception) to Desmond Bishop, I’d have to look at that because I’d like to know where we’re going with the football, because I believe the play was designed to go to the other side and I think Percy’s standing there in big air, so not sure why we’re looking at the left-hand side...”

The interception was only one of three for Favre that game. The Vikings lost 28-24.

In Johnson's eyes, the Vikings are sacrificing team success for the appeasement of one player. He said he openly treated star players on his teams differently than others, but never at the expense of compromising the idea of team unity.

Johnson won two Super Bowls with the Dallas Cowboys, a National Championship with the University of Miami, (FL), and is a spokesman for ExtenZe, a male-enhancement medicine. Childress has won a playoff game. He may want to listen up.

Got a Package For You

In the last twelve months, the sports world has been flooded with pictures of pro athlete's privates. Greek Olympic level nudity really. As fans, we're still trying to reconcile just how to feel about all this. Michaelangelo's "David" is considered high art, but Greg's "Oden" isn't held in such high regard.

The most recent athlete to be exposed literally and figuratively is his holiness, Brett Favre. Los That Sports Blog, Deadspin and others teased a story for a while now of him "sexting" with Jenn Sterger (not his wife), and now the pics have made their way to the public.

In my opinion, its full-frontal comedy. But then again, I'm a sick individual. I argued with friends that Gilbert Arenas' gun pulling incident was hilarious and didn't deserve any punishment (I still feel that way). Growing up, my three favorite athletes were Barry Bonds (steroid user/perjurer), Latrell Sprewell (coach choker), and Warren Moon (wife choker). I fail to see what Ron Artest has ever done in life that could be viewed as poor judgement.

(Also, I'm confident Michael Vick and Kevin Kolb smoke copious amounts of marijuana together, and I have given them the nickname "Cheech and Chong the Dog Killer". I'm strange.)

So when Favre, Shaquille O'Neal, Oden, George Hill, or whoever sends penis pics to their significant slut, and the slut turns around and shares it with the world (as is in their nature), who am I to deny myself laughter at their expense?

When Amare' Stoudemire is caught on camera barely needing the fingernail on his pinky to cover his junk, I'm gonna find the humor.

The funnier thing to me is the way the "lame stream" media ignores the story, and allows the bloggers to relay the information to the wanting public. Yes, the public wants to know when Brett Favre sends pics of his "Viking/Aztec Warrior" to women not named Mrs. Favre. Its kind of like a big deal.

Reporting it, conversing it, does not a homosexual make either. As far as I know, there's only one act in the world that would make a person one.

So laugh at their expense. As much time and money you spend on fantasy football, going to games, and your gambling habit where the only satisfaction you get relies on their performance, do you really think they aren't laughing at you?

Los That Links 9-10-10

This just in: Brad Childress is a lot worse at his job than we previously thought he was.

The Minnesota Vikings head coach, affectionately known as "Chilly", was ice cold with his offensive play-calling in last night's 14-9 loss to the New Orleans Saints. The alleged offensive wizard, couldn't produce even ten points out of an offense touting Brett Favre and Adrian Peterson. His Viking defense started the game getting carved up, allowing the Saints to score on a 29-yard TD pass after only five plays. The defense did regroup, only allowing one more TD the rest of the game. But they were unable to get the Saints offense off the field, as they ran off the final five minutes of the game.

Childress hasn't shown any ability to motivate his team under his terms. Watching the game last night, fans saw a Vikings team that began the game flat, regrouped out of sheer embarrassment, and ultimately were handcuffed by Childress' terrible play-calling (and admittedly, some shady penalties). The Vikings passed the ball 27 times last night, even though:

A.) They were missing their top receiver, Sidney Rice.

B.) Their second best receiver, Percy Harvin, has been hampered by migraines.

C.) Favre, the hall of fame bound QB, had missed most of camp, and hadn't built any rhythm with the backups. And...

D.) They have Adrian Peterson on the roster, and he was averaging almost 5 yards per carry.

The Vikings have no head coach, they have a handicap. Childress' only contribution to the leadership of this team seems to be designing the offense, and taking trips to Favre's Mississippi home the past two summers, to beg.

If the Vikings were going to win anything under the Childress regime, it would have been last season. All the planets were aligned. They were an unknown commodity. Favre signed, Sidney Rice had a breakout year, Percy Harvin emerged as a star rookie, and the defense had every player either at, or coming into their prime. A team like that doesn't need a coach, and Childress stayed out of the way for the most part, resulting in a 12-4 season, and an NFC championship game appearance.

But now, the team is a year older, injured, and other teams can see them coming. This is a team that needs a coach to navigate them through the adversity, and Childress' isn't that guy. He designs plays well, but he doesn't call them at the right time. His offensive pet project, Travaris Jackson, has yet to develop into a legit NFL quarterback. His starting quarterback (Favre) openly undermines his authority, and treats him more as an old college buddy that he never really liked, than as a coach.

There is still enough talent on the Vikings roster to make one last run at a championship, but "Chilly" will have to pull off a coaching job that we've yet to see him do.

Childress' teams have improved by two wins each season since he took over in 2006, but none of those teams carried with them the expectations that this 2010 team does. Its a safe bet that is one trend that won't continue.

Los That Links 8-24-10

Brett Favre made his return (to something he technically never left) with a bang last night in the Minnesota Vikings loss to the Super Bowl-bound San Francisco 49ers (bias). Literally. The return was a whopping four plays long, complete with one highlight (a 13-yard swing pass to Adrian Peterson) and the aforementioned lowlight.

For all the hype about Favre, I'd have to say the television audiences were left a bit disappointed. Unless you were like me, and appreciate watching a dominant pre-season defensive performance by a dark horse Super Bowl contender, you were probably looking to see Brett Favre do Brett Favre-type things for at least 3-4 series.

Too bad.

What viewers last night were treated to, however, was more of the same unabashed apologizing and excuse making for the legendary Favre's diva routine. There was the story of the three Viking players who traveled to Mississippi to talk to him. There was the halftime interview where he gave vague references to contentious feelings he may or may not have towards Brad "Chilli" Childress, who occaisionally serves as head coach for the team. There was the story of anonymous players in the Viking locker room were quoted saying Favre didn't trust Childress, and how they were cowards for doing so. And, of course, there were the "Favre just loves this game" stories, complete with Favre slapping the butts of his teammates, as proof.

I know just last week, I posted an article stating how we shouldn't hate Favre, or the game, for all the love he receives. I'm not backing off my position on that. It's okay to hate Jay Mariotti, but not Favre.

Still, as a sports junkie, it is a bit nauseating to listen to the positive Favre stories being told by the media members who scathingly criticize Terrell Owens and Albert Haynesworth for underming their head coaches, and basing those criticisms on words from anonymous sources. It's hypocritical, at best, to do so. What's worse, every allusion to the identity of the anonymous sources is played up as being either backup QBs Tarvaris Jackson or Sage Rosenfels, implying that they're saying things out of jealousy.

So, its okay to label guys cowards and team cancers, when they may or may not have done anything to deserve those labels? And you don't need to back it up with fact, so much as an entertainig opinion? This is wrong.

I don't mind giving Favre the benefit of the doubt, or even special privliges. That's why they make the big bucks. Just don't do it at the expense of guys who are just as accomplished (Owens), guys who are in similar situations (Haynesworth), or guys who are just barely hanging on (Jackson and Rosenfels).

Shouldn't be too difficult, eh?

Don't hate the player. Don't hate the game. Hate the fact that you aren't winning.

That's my advice to those who are truly, internally, bothered by the hoopla that is Brett Favre. Yes, he's coming back for one more year with the Vikings. Yes, the Vikings sent three players to go convince him to return. Yes, he's essentially held the franchise hostage from the time he threw the interception that ended the 2009-10 season, until now. Yes, he's being afforded far more leeway than any other player in the NFL could ever imagine asking for. Yes, its unfair.

And?

More directly, I feel the way Lil Wayne did at the end of an old Gangsta Grillz mixtape song. His mother warns him to tuck his chain in because it's dangerous among the hoodlums and thugs in the mean streets. His response:"I'll be d-mned, Mama. They know who I am, Mama. I'm still yo lil boy, but to them, I'm the man, mama."

Now Favre is in a totally different context, but the response still fits. He's the man. He isn't playing by the same rules as the rest of the guys out there BECAUSE HE CAN. Period. If he couldn't, he wouldn't. He's put 20 years as a professional into this here game. He's never missed a contest. He's re-written the record book for players at his position. If he doesn't want to report to camp until he's darn good and ready, so be it.

(Gangsta Grillz, you bastards!)

I'll never ask another grown man for an autograph. Can't do it. Won't do it. It's a pride thing. How anyone over the age of 18 can look themselves in the mirror after doing so.

So imagine my disappointment after getting word that two Cincinnati reporters asked Denver Broncos rookie QB Tim Tebow for his autograph, after his first pre-season game. I'm no "journalistic-ethics" whistle blower, but I am big on self-respect. And frankly, I don't see how you can have much self-respect if you're asking a kid in his underwear to write his name on a piece of paper so you can show it to other people.

Now I'm aware of Tebow-mania. I know that his popularity spreads far and wide over this great land of ours (even on this site). He's a modern day folk hero, only all of his accomplishments have been captured on film with audio. There is no hate being thrown on Tebow (this time).

No, this is directed at anyone 18 and up who is out there asking other people for autographs. Consider this a public service announcement. Please, stop it. You're an embarrassment to yourself and others.

People tend to confuse you with people like us, but we're not the same. We follow sports because we love the game. You follow sports because you love the fame. Two different kinds of lame, but your's carries the heavier stain of shame.

Los That Links 8-6-10 (Los That Ladies)

Happy Friday, people. We're a little over a week in now. Still figuring some things out, but having fun doing so.

In keeping with the idea of creating a theme for the daily links, today, and every Friday after this, will be dedicated to fine women. We'll call it, Los That Links: Los That Ladies. The picture above is a woman named Jenn Sterger. She's about to be (more) famous, or infamous. Not for this though. Think Rachel Uchitel. More on her in a minute. Your links await.

- Brett Favre has (allegedly) been throwing balls to people other than his receivers or his wife. How he has been avoiding the Tiger Woods treatment is beyond me.

- Lance Armstrong: the latest victim of snitching. At one point in time, Armstrong was connected to this fine woman, and now he's married with children. He may want to keep them close.

- The Rick Pitino extortion case is over. Karen Sypher was found guilty, and can face as many as 26 yeas in prison, although it will likely be much less. Sypher isn't so much "fine" as, say "talented". Read this, and we'll leave it at that.

- The Vernon Davis and Aaron Maybin stripper party photos are highly overrated, but I'll let you decide for yourself. Courtesy of radaronline.com

- Speaking of Ms. Uchitel, her former sugar daddy is still suffering from the loss of his mojo.

- Nolan Ryan's group was successful in outbidding Mark Cuban's group for ownership of the Texas Rangers. $590 million. Allegedly, Ryan threatened Cuban with this. (No fine women were hurt in the posting of this link.)

Good mawnin'. "Who is that picture of?" you ask. That is Canadian Football League wide receiver, Dave Stala. His image makes the lead because he did this very cool thing. If you do something cool like that, maybe you'll make the lead.

That's the theme for today's links. There's been a lot of things going on this summer that wear down the resolve of the average sports fan ("The Decision", Favre, A-Rod's 600th, etc.). Its important to remember why it is we follow sports in the first place.

So here we go. Los That Links Thursdays: Los That Awesome.

- The headline reads "Spider Man Outfielder Makes One of the Greatest Catches Ever".

- Evan Sellers and the kids at DcuStudios2 making trick shots. Is it real? Don't hate.

- Tim Tebow on the cover of NCAA Football 2011 or Tim Tebow highlights for Madden 11? What? That's not Madden 11? God, you're a hater.

- Okay, can I interest you in a REAL story on just how the Madden video game franchise became so powerful? Thought so.

- Stephen Colbert wishing Brett Favre a happy retirement. Probably motivated Favre's return. That' the power of the "Colbert Bump".

- Shaquille O'Neal in a Twitter beef with Jim Rome. Call him "Chris" Rome, I dare you.

- Shannon Brown is set to return to the Los Angeles Lakers. Brown is known for stuff like this.

- Basil Marceaux for Governor of Tennessee. Nothing to do with sports. Just funny, and real. I repeat, real.

"Mr. Water Cooler"

He's the guy everyone is tired of hearing about around this time of year, but that everyone continues to talk about.

Every off-season since 2006 Brett Favre has managed to manipulate the media and his team's plans for the future with rumors of his retirement. It's almost the equivalent of that high school girl that would spread rumors about herself to remain relevant. Many sports fan grow sick of it. I find it to be genius from a PR standpoint. Here's why...

First off, this isn't some washed up veteran that wants attention and doesn't produce much anymore (cough, cough... Shaq, anyone?). Brett Favre proved with his performance last season that he is still a top NFL QB. He virtually rolled out of bed, practiced for a week in pre-season and picked apart defenses like he was playing Madden '09 on rookie level. He hasn't missed a single start since the fourth game of the 1992 season, after he was traded from the Falcons to the Packers. He hold the career records for most wins by a QB (181), most TDs thrown (497), completions, passing yards, you name it. Granted these stats are accumulated over an 18-year career, but you have to be pretty good at what you do to hold your starting job for that length of time, especially in the NFL where most starting QB's only last less than 10 seasons. The man is damn good at what he does. Period.

A few seasons ago, Green Bay's front office got a little tired of Brett handcuffing the franchise and preventing the progress of Aaron Rodgers, who was drafted in the 1st round in 2005 to replace him once Favre called it quits. Favre refuses to take a backup role and is eventually traded to the Jets. His season in NY was subpar, and again Brett decides to retire due to an injured biceps (and eventually be released from his contract w/ the Jets. Smart man.) Signs with the Vikings in 2009, and my guess it was to stick it to the Packers who wanted no parts of his return to play football. And did he ever. Vikings have a great season, Favre has arguably his best season statistically and all is roses in Minnesota. Until Favre injures his ankle and again says he'll let the Vikings know if he's healthy enough to play. See a trend here?

I'm sure by now you've heard or read the numerous reports of if Favre is playing again or retiring. Whether or not Favre can still play isn't the issue here. What's amazing to me is how much one person can dictact the plans of an entire franchise. It's going as far as Minnesota being prepared to offer him more money to play in 2010 (mind you, he's already under contract for the upcoming season). Do they lack that much confidence in Tavaris Jackson? Are the Vikings that desperate for Brett to come back and start? When has there been talks of a hold out? Correct me if I'm wrong. I'll wait...

Let's call it what it is... As much as he portrays this image of down home Mississippi guy that just wants to play football and ride his tractor in the summer, Brett Favre is an attention whore. He loves being in the media and the spotlight. He relishes being a hot topic and a headliner on your daily local sports pages. And writers, editors, bloggers and fans alike all eat it up because he's proven that he can still play, and just might be deserving of all the attention. You can't be too upset at the man for using the media machine for the purpose it was intended for, to generate interest.

Plus, there's no way this pick in the playoffs can be his last NFL play. See you in Viking purple when the regular season begins, Brett.
