Paul Silas on Michael Jordan: "If He Got In Shape, He Would Probably Average 20"

Charlotte Bobcats part owner Michael Jordan is and will arguably remain the greatest player in NBA history (just accept it.) but per  these comments from Bobcats head coach Paul Silas, His Airness still has a little NBA-caliber game in him. Here are some of the quotes:

"If he got in shape he could probably average about 15 to 20 points a game, no question, because he still has the shot," Silas said Friday on "The Waddle & Silvy Show" on ESPN 1000. "If he got in shape, he would probably average 20 because he can get the shot off, he can make them, and he has just an uncanny knowledge of the game.



"He really understands how to play and that's why he is important to my guys and what they should be doing out there and what they should be looking for. It's just phenomenal what he can still do at that age."

Here was my reaction upon reading said quotes:

So... do they drug test head coaches these days? Sure, the thought of seeing Michael Jordan lace up some of those retro Jordans and get out on the court against LeBron, Kobe, etc is fun to visualize and simulate on NBA2K11, but let's be serious here for a second. Michael Jordan will be 48 years old on Feb. 17th. and probably a good 40-50 pounds out of "game shape". There is no way in hell he can play 20+ minutes in today's NBA and average anywhere close to 20ppg. I'm sure he can still shoot and still has that great basketball IQ and savvy, but Jordan would be a liability on defense and with his limited athletic ability opponents can simply crowd him to take away the jumper.

Could he maybe play about 10 minutes a game and get close to double digits? Yes. But 20 point a night?? Nah, playa. He's human. Or at least as far as we know he is.

Laurency Maroney Arrested Following Rick Ross Concert

Athletes and celebrities getting arrested is nothing new. Happens once or twice a week on average. The bigger story here is Denver Broncos running back Laurence Maroney's mugshot above. He will from now on be referred to as the Black Raggedy Andy. The cops should have put out an APB on whoever agreed to braid his hair like that.

Who knew Wes Welker had a good sense of humor? This is a day or so old, but it's still damn funny, given all the shots in the media that have been fired back and forth between the Jets and the Patriots. Here's the video:

Joakim Noah Not "Jerking" Around With Celtics Fans

In tonight's NBA game between the Chicago Bulls and the Boston Celtics, ESPN's cameras caught this money shot (pun intended) from Bulls center Joakim Noah, apparently directed towards some fans behind the Bulls bench:

High comedy. Gotta love players these days. Noah made the gesture after he was subbed out of the game in the middle of the 2nd quarter after a foul committed on Celtics Shaquille O'Neal.

Derek Anderson Blows A Fuss At Press Conference

During last's night embarrasing Monday Night Football loss to the San Fransisco 49ers, Arizona Cardinals QB Derek Anderson was caught on camera sharing a small laugh with a fellow teammate Deuce Lutui. In the post game press conference, when a reporter posed Anderson with a question about why he was laughing Anderson blew up like he was accused of a felony and didn't have a proper alibi. Here's video of the melt down:



Now correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think the question had anything to do with Anderson's practices during the week, how hard he studies, etc. All he had to do was simply answer the question like a professional (but this is the NFL, where "professional" is optional). I understand that the question about the laugh may have caught Anderson off guard, but that is no excuse. Maybe he should have had a Twix or froze time like that chick from that 80's TV show "Out Of This World". Either way, all he did was embarass himself even more.

The Cardinals QB position has been a joke this season since the release of former first rounder Matt Leinart and Anderson statistically has been one of the worst quarterbacks in recent memory (yes, even worse than Alex Smith). Get it together, Mr. Anderson.

Now this is funny! Spotted this video about Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh over at The Basketball Jones spot and I have been laughing out loud ever since:

Pure genius! If you haven't heard, Bosh has looked lost on the floor more times that not while on the floor with #6 and Dwyane Wade dominating the ball. The "Big 3" experiment might pan out over the course of the season but so far they have faced a few growing pains while trying to adjust to each other and this new system. So far the Heat are 6-4 and in 5th place in the Easten Conference. They still have 72 games to get it together so we'll be watching.
